Geronimo Creek Retreat “Glamping”

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Geronimo Creek retreat in a glamping “Getaway cabin” tent. Located on 8 beautiful acres on the San Marcos River.

We enjoyed the day there playing in the beautiful pristine blue river! I love that you can camp and reconnect with nature but also be very comfortable in these glamping cabin tents which are fully furnished with tasteful furniture and comfy bedding. The cabin we stayed in #5 was very posh! It had a microwave, mini fridge, TV and was fully stocked with kitchen items. Oh and… AIR CONDITIONING! There is a huge covered porch that you can use to dine on, star gaze or prepare a meal. There is also a sink and your own private “Toilet”. {Told you this was “fancy” camping!}

Our cabin #5

Each “getaway cabin” has a hammock, picnic bench and BBQ located underneath the structure that you can enjoy. Each cabin also has a coded locked door for privacy.

The property

There is a lot to do on this property. My husband and boys enjoyed the playing basketball, corn hole and there is even a fun game room on the property, as well as a hot tub.

There are several clean restrooms on the property that have a toilet, sink and shower for the campers to use. They provide towels for shower, but please bring your own toiletries. I also recommend to use water shoes or sandals in the shower.

bathroom and shower building.

I bet you have never seen one of these!

*Like I mentioned above, we did have our own private toilet at our cabin which was nice.

( FYI- this was our first time using an “incinerating” toilet) in our cabin.

So many trees and shady areas to relax

My experience at this place was wonderful! I had an amazing time. We felt safe, comfortable and we loved being close to the activities, while still having our own private oasis in our tent!

This is the way to “camp”!

Water activities

The creek is Spring fed and very refreshing. There are several signs posted stating that there is no lifeguard and to please follow safety precautions. They do offer life vests and I encourage you use these for your little ones.

We kayaked for a bit, tried paddle boarding and then just chilled in a tube relaxing talking to some other guests. For the young at heart, there is even a rope swing!!!

Lots of water activities-free to us for guests
Caution!

I was a happy camper!!!

Lil man was able to manuver his own kayak

Stores and Restaurants

There are a few towns nearby approx. 20 mins away. We had dinner at a great restaurant in Seguin and picked up some bottled water at a nearby store. It was a nice drive and a wonderful chance to see the Country side.

Beautiful Texas sky

My family and I had a blast here! It was the right combination of nature and comfort! I honestly can’t wait to go back! I hope one day soon I have the opportunity!

On to the next adventure-

On the second day we ventured off to a place called Sons Blue River Camp. Please make note- they do have a sister property called “Sons Island”.

People often confuse the two. Make sure to read where your reservations are booked. They are not located in the same area!

Sons Blue River Camp

Sons Blue River Camp was probably one of the highlights of my trip! My day and family experience there couldn’t of been more PERFECT!

We arrived on a Monday which meant that most kids were in school and not many people of vacation. The place was not crowded and it was our own “hidden gem”!

We decided to rent a space as well as do the tubing experience. We played in the river, relaxed in the hammock and went tubing down the river! I have to say, that this was pretty cool! This experience was one to add to the adventure bucket list!

This SoCal girl enjoyed her time on the Texas River!

Lots of activities available; Swim, Fish, Volleyball, play Corn hole, relax river side in a lounge chair or chill in a hammock listening to music. This is included with your entrance.

You can even rent your own private cabana or covered picnic bench.

This the life!

The “float” lasts about 2 hours and it was so relaxing! There were times where the water was very calm, then flowing and then calm again. I do suggest this for families. The tubes also have a bottom seat, which helps along the “bumps”. I encourage you to also bring water shoes.

Bring some snacks, a picnic lunch or grill up something tasty on the bbq that is provided. Everything you need to have a perfect day with friends and family.

So much to do here…..

Relax with family an friends while grilling and roast marshmallows under the Stars. They even have “Glamping” tents available for overnight stay.

Located in Kingsbury, Texas on the San Marcos River.

FACT- Curious where the water comes from? It is Spring fed river. It also runs through San Marcos, Texas.

Items I recommend you bring for the lake & river adventure-

Items for “glamping”-

If you rent a tent at Sons Island or Sons Blue river, make sure to bring bedding and towels. They provide a bed and a fan. Outdoor shower available and a “port-a-pot” for the toilet. Bring hand wipes because there is no sink available to wash hands or face.

Great getaway in Hill Country Texas

This would be a fun long weekend getaway for couples, families or for a larger gathering or group event. I would recommend staying at least 2 nights. If you are not a Texas Native and will be flying in to check out these properties, I suggest flying into San Antonio or Austin- they are both approx. 1 hr away . You can take a trip from the Houston area as well- It is approx. 2.5 hours away.
